Kinokuniya Ryokan had a lovely historic charm, and the onsen experience was so relaxing. The food was a highlight with authentic multi-course meals. Just a heads-up, the decor shows its age, but that adds to the character, I guess.

Thank you for a wonderful stay. So glad we choose it, it's best base for staying in Hakone. The location is remote, adjacent to an onsen and such and Tokyo. Besides, an open - air museum is 20 minutes' drive away. They have a lot of meals to choose from, the food is nice.

The staff were superfriendly and pleasant and the location was MAGNIFICENT close to public transport. Moreover, it's adjacent to the lake or other attractions and frequent buses to/from Moto Hakone-cho. Incredibly nice breakfast, the food was perfect.

The ryokan's atmosphere radiated with traditional charm. The room offered a spacious feel with a beautiful view of the garden. Enjoyed the authentic kaiseki dinner every meal was a good culinary art piece. The private onsen experience stood out, with both milky and clear baths providing a soothing retreat. Staff accommodated my vegetarian husband with tasty meals. The location felt quite isolated was nice. I wished for a shower nearby, which I knew beforehand, but it still would have enhanced the experience. Despite the minor inconveniences, the historic feel of the ryokan captures the essence of Japanese hospitality.

The private onsen with both milky and clear baths was a comforting retreat. Meals were a culinary highlight, especially the kaiseki dinner that offered traditional Japanese flavors. The spacious room had a beautiful view of the mountains.
